Today I started Turbo Fire! I decided that it would be in my best interest to do the 9 week Prep Schedule before moving onto the regular class schedule. It is exactly what I expected....cardio kick boxing on crack. Today's workout was Fire 30. To be safe and prevent injury, I decided to do the "New to Class" workout, which has a breakdown of each section. It made the workout time longer but was to my benefit because some of the routines were difficult to pick up even with the walk through. I can't imagine what damage I would have done if I jumped right into the normal workout. Not to mention that the breakdown sections allowed for me to catch my breath. It was a great cardio workout and tons of fun! I can't wait to see what the other classes have to offer.
Today was also weigh in day. The damage of the last week resulted in a 2.5 pound gain. Kinda sucks, but I have now worries about being able to lose that weight again (hopefully quickly). I just have to get back to eating right and keep up with this new exercise routine.

30 Days of Blogging- Day 8
Short term goals for this month and why
How nice that this subject came up on New Years Eve and the start of a new month... However, I'm not much of a goal maker. I have a goal weight and don't know if that really is where I want to end up. Making short term goals is the worst... The "I want to achieve such and such by the end of the month" only sets me up for disappointment if I don't reach a goal. I did it anyway and here's what I came up with.

- Lose 3 pounds so that I can have less than 10 pounds to lose to reach goal.
- Workout consistently so that I can achieve #1.
- Cook more because I don't like to cook very much and as a result I eat alot of packaged foods and end up buying lunch every day.
- Finish the 30 days of blogging challenge.

30 days of Blogging- Day 7
A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you.
These awesome ladies are my grandmothers. Yes, I love my family and love to talk about their awesomness. They are the foundation of our family. Little Helen and Grandmom Dot taught my parents how to create a strong family unit, which allowed them to provide a happy and stable home environment for children to grow up in. Both of them are very strong ladies. I was there when they both stood by their husbands while they were sick and dying in the hospital. Having witnessed this in my 20's, I quickly realized that those 2 women have more strength than I thought possible. This has impacted me greatly, and I hope one day the I will have the same strength that they do.
** While writing this post I had an awesome idea. I will be dedicating one blog post to each of the awesome people that have helped sculpt me into the person I am today. I will tackle that after the 30 day blogging challenge.

Your favorite Superhero and why
I know this is supposed to be a fun blog post, but I'm not a big fan of Marvel comics and superheros. I know that Superman can fly, has x-ray vision, and shoots lasers out of his eyes... right? and Peter Parker got bit by a genetically engineered spider and became Spiderman. Then, there's Ironman with his suit that does alot of cool shit. But none of that really impresses me. I don't have a favorite superhero... Not in the traditional sense. So, I'm going to turn this into a more serious post.
My parents are superheros to me. They raised three awesome children... Really1 We are friggin' awesome!! My dad worked full time to gives us the necessities, and my mom worked full time so we could have all the extras (ie vacations, dance classes, piano lessons, and baseball programs). They built a close knit family, and a happy home. We all supported each other by going to dance recital, band concerts and baseball games. We are very close and value our time together. When we were teenagers, my mom would go up to bed to relax at around 8 pm and all three kids would end up in her bedroom just talking and goofing around. They always made sure we all ate dinner together every night. They taught us the value of family, and to be generous, compassionate individuals. The laundry was always done, the house always clean, and we always had food on the table, and a roof over our heads. To some this might seem like basic necessities, but not everyone gets a stable, safe environment to grow up in. To me, it takes a superhero to run a household, and raise three children to be responsible adults. What people like my parents do is better for society than some vigilante superhero.

New Fitness Program
Some people go to the gym. Other people jog or hike or cycle. Me? Well I hate extreme temperatures so consistent outdoor activities during winter and summer just aren't going to happen. The gym? Often too pricey and the classes I really want aren't offered at times that I can attend. My resolution... In home fitness programs, and often intense ones. I absolutely love Beachbody brand fitness programs. They are all well rounded programs that incorporate cardio, strength training, stretch/yoga, and a nutrition guide to help develop healthy eating habits. I am currently doing Weight Watchers and have been doing well with that so I'll stick with it as long as it works for me. I own many Beachbody programs and have become bored with the ones I have. So, my Christmas present to myself was a new fitness program.
I'm preping and will be starting this program in a few days. My nutrition is under control now, and I've lost around 20 pounds. I am 10 pounds from my goal weight and now it's time to get fit!

A picture of somewhere you've been
This is the only place that I've been that's worth mentioning. It was the most spectacular thing I've ever seen. We spent a few days in Vegas and on one of the days, we took a bus tour to the Grand Canyon. We stopped at the Hoover Dam, and rode through the desert for hours. When you first get there and approach the railing, it's like you're staring into a painting that is enveloping you. It's a little dizzying at first. As your mind tries to process what it is seeing, you lose your balance and just stare at it in awe unbelieving that what you are seeing is, in fact, real. It is more vast and beautiful than you could ever imagine. No photograph will ever do this place any justice and my description doesn't even begin to describe the feelings you get when you're standing on the edge of the rim looking around at all the wonders it beholds. The tour guide allowed us to walk along the canyon instead of just driving us to the next view point. It was 1.5 hours of pure amazement and delight. I intend on going there again, and next time I will be doing the helicopter tour no matter how scared my husband is of flying.
*Note: I did not take this picture. I have hundreds of them on a computer somewhere, but I don't think we have that computer hooked up at the moment. I'll look around for them and post at a later date.

A habit that you wish you didn't have
I am a serial procrastinator. I even procrastinated writing this blog. :P Ok... maybe not. It's still bad, and worse when I was in school. No project was ever late. It was just feverishly put together at the very last moment. When I was working on my Bachelor's degree, I was taking online courses and assignments were due at midnight on the due date. For almost all of my classes there was a final project, and being a Paralegal Studies major, they all required research and a length of about 12 pages. Leave it to me to start the day it's due and bang one of those out in 4 hours. Once, I even managed to do 2 of those bad boys in one day. It caused alot of stress, but there was this euphoric sense of accomplishment when I was able to finish it on time, and the A's and B's I would get on those projects didn't help to deter me from this habit. In my head, I think of it more as a skill than a habit even though deep down I know it's a habit. However, I have the ability to produce quality work under a great deal of stress. I don't even have control over it. I don't know how I developed it or when I started doing it. My mind just tells me "Oh! That can wait! You should do "this" instead." and I'd move on to something that I'd enjoy doing.

30 days of Blogging- Day 3
A picture of you and your friends
There are a few of these during the 30 days so I'll start with the love of my life and my best friend. I'm hoping the the goatee is a temporary thing. It's the first time that he's ever grown facial hair. However, after seeing the family at Christmas and everyone loving it, I think he wants to keep it. I guess I'll tolerate it until he starts getting food stuck in it. Once that happens, it's gone! :P
This is my husband and me at a holiday party. We have been together for almost 11 years and have been married 3.5 years. We've grown together from immature teenagers to immature adults. :P or..... to somewhat responsible and quite successful adults. He has provided a stable environment for me when I floudered around trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. He was the sole provider when I lived with him in Philly, and wasn't working and not sure where to apply for jobs. He provided for me when we decided that I could work part time and finish my degree. He's always very supportive no matter how crazy some of my endeavors are. I think he'd give me the world if I wanted it bad enough.
He's relatively quiet, and I annoy him sometimes with all my chatter. :P He has this random sense of humor that catches me off guard and makes me laugh at the same time. He is my everything, and it often amazes me at how much I love him.

The meaning behind your blog name
This name came from my brother. I only have one and he's a goofball. :P He called me a flagette in high school because I was a member of the color guard in marching band. When I changed my college major from Dance to Paralegal Studies, he made the remark, "What are going to be? A Dancing Paralegal?" I haven't taken a dance class in 7 years now, but I still get this joke. At the moment I'm not a dancer in the sense that I don't take classes, I am one in my heart through and through. Nor am I a paralegal... yet and that will change.

30 Days of Blogging- Day 1
A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself.
This is the most recent picture of me. It was taken at a holiday party this past Saturday. You'll get to see the rest of the picture later in the blogging challenge.
Well, I'm not very interesting, but I'm sure I can think of 15 facts about myself
This is the most recent picture of me. It was taken at a holiday party this past Saturday. You'll get to see the rest of the picture later in the blogging challenge.
Well, I'm not very interesting, but I'm sure I can think of 15 facts about myself
- I started out as a dance major in college and then I changed my major to Paralegal Studies. I was on the 10 year plan just finishing college in December 2009.
- I was raised in New Jersey, and I come from an Italian heritage. I have an attitude and I'm proud of it.
- I'm a bit of a loner. I only care about spending time with my husband and our families. Time with friends is nice, but not something I go out of my way to do.
- I have an amazing sister and mother who are my best friends. As a result, I don't feel the need to get close to the few girlfriends I have.
- The few girlfriends I do have are crazy fun and I love them.
- I love Christmas, and watch Christmas movies the whole month of December.
- The best part of my life is being an aunt. I have no desire for children right now and wonder if my biological clock will start ticking soon. I think my husband would like children one day.
- I've never lived by myself. I moved out of my parent's house to move in with the man who is now my husband.
- I'm in a spiritual limbo. I'm not sure of what I believe, and my husband is telling me that I'm atheist...
- I'm not atheist. :P
- I've never smoked a cigarette or any other substance that you might wrap in paper and inhale.
- Now that I think about it... No one has ever offered me illegal drugs.
- I grew up in the suburbs of Jersey and went through grade school and high school with the same friends that incidentally I didn't keep in touch with.
- I like where I live because I don't ever run into old school mates when I go out. So, there's no need to act like I'm happy to see them or to act like I care about how their life turned out.
- I get friend requests on Facebook from people that I know I went to school with, but can't remember who they are until I look at the pics on their profile.
Yup!! Not interesting...
30 days of Blogging
Well, I've been blogging on the Weight Watchers site and figured that I'd start a more personal blog. I try to stay very politically correct there and sometimes you just have to let it all hang out.
