Come on Irene!

Irene... that trashy whore nailing everyone on the east coast.... So, a recap of Saturday night and Sunday. Wind... Rain... concern about basement flooding and the sump pump working... anxiety about the power going out while it was raining.. anxiety about it raining while the power was out... Sink hole! Big fat fucking sink hole that went almost all the way across the street. I didn't get close enough to get a good picture, but I did get a couple.

Digging out the asphault inside the sink hole

The sink hole after they back filled it with dirt. All that dirt you see is the top of the hole.

Yesterday was very windy. This is the best picture I could get of the trees bending in the wind.

The first hint of sun! I was so excited.
After this picture was taken, the sun quickly retreated behind the clouds. I read for a little bit, and then took a half hour nap. When I woke up the sun was out and there was barely a cloud in the sky.

Last night, I read by candle light. It was really nice! Then at around 9 pm, I finally decided it was time to get some real sleep. About 2 hours later, there were men walking around behind my house, talking and making alot of noise. It sounded like they were trying to start a generator. So, thinking they were making noise to distract me and break in, I turned on my flashlight and went downstairs. Everything was intact, but it put me on  edge. I don't like the dark when there's no way to create light to help me assess a situation. They left and I was anxious for a bit. Finally, after they left, I decided to try and get back to sleep. A few minutes later, the power was back on! YAY!! I was so happy! Finally, I was able to rest and got a good nights sleep.

I'm off to Europe later this afternoon! I can't wait to get there and see my husband! Him and one of our friends flew out Saturday night. I miss him and can't wait to get vacation started!

Update! Schmupdate!

Got hurricane? Well we will! Ok... I've had a couple glasses of wine. LOL!! I needed it since there is a potential of water getting into our finished basement. The anxiety was unreal! So... I am drinking and having a hurricane party for one! Ok... Two if you count my BIL who has moved in for the next 6 months while he's doing his co-op in a town nearby, but he doesn't drink so it's still a party of one....

Oh.. Yes! The update you are looking for. Well, I'm packed and ready the head to Europe on Monday night. I will be embarking on the vacation of a lifetime! 9 Days, 4 cities. We'll start in Amsterdam, then head to Berlin and Prague and finally.... 2 full days in Rome!! Woot!

I will have limited internet access while I am away. However, I will be journaling during my whole vacation. I plan on taking lots of pictures and writing detailed descriptions of everything we do. So, be prepared for an awesome series of posts about my trip.

Not much going on in the job front. I will get serious about finding a new job closer to home when I get back from vacation.

Not much else going on at the moment... Maybe I can get some cool pics of hurricane Irene.... but the brunt of the storm will hit us overnight. Hopefully, I will be able to sleep through it. We're well inland so we won't see the 100+ mph winds that my family's little piece of heaven down at the Jersey shore will get.

I hope this was a somewhat coherent. I didn't eat before I had that first glass of wine and it has hit me like "Whoah!" LOL!

Ask and You Shall Receive....

So, I've been lacking inspiration on what to write about on here. Nothing exciting has been happening lately. Well, I asked the powers that be to give me something! I got it... unfortunately it's not what I was hoping to write about... I was looking more for a deep revelation or something great... So, here it is...

On Monday, one of the paralegals at my law firm was fired. Well, seeing as I was told a few months ago.. around the time that I wrote THIS POST, that changes might be coming.. (interpret that as this paralegal being let go) and to give him time and I'd be considered for that job... Well... here it is! The new paralegal starts Monday... WHAT THE FUCK!! Seriously! Do they think I'm going to sit here and wait for a year... or two... for one of these 2 new paralegals to move on or get fired? What an bunch of asses! They seem to lack the understanding that I'm over qualified to answer their stupid phones and copy & paste legal documents. I have a fucking bachelor's degree for fuck sake! I am livid! (lol! If you couldn't already tell) So... now I'm going to say "screw em!" They've passed me over twice now. It's time to get serious about finding a new job. I will have to wait until after my vacation since I won't we reachable for two weeks. But man... come September 12... It's on!!

I'm still being considered for a position at the place that I interviewed at last month. I didn't get the job I interviewed for, but they were anticipating another open position that they were going to consider me for. I'm just keeping in touch with the HR rep., and waiting. I give her the update on my current situation here. I am done with this place. It's time to move on!

*Note- I remembered to pack my camera. So, I'm hoping to get some shots of bay this weekend.

My Poor Neglected Blog...

I've been semi-MIA here... Lately, I just haven't had much to write about. The last month or so I've been working out regularly which is great even if my weight isn't going down, however I am noticing a flatter tummy. YAY!! I think I might ditch the scale for a while and focus more on fitness. I'm really close to being a healthy weight and I think the tape measure is moving more than the scale. The pounds just don't seem to want to budge. I've been counting calories at myfitnesspal.com and doing pretty well. I eat alot of the same things everyday/ every week. I think I just need to mix up my diet a bit and find new snacks and meals to shock my body a little.

Summer is just trudging along. Did I ever tell you how I dislike summer? The best part about summer is going to the beach, and I don't get there that often. Atleast this summer I'm more confident about wearing a bathing suit. That's a big change from the previous 6+ years where I'd rather shop at the outdoor mall than be seen in a bathing suit on the beach. I am heading down to Cape May this weekend. There will be some beach time and a yummy seafood dinner. For weeks I've been craving scallops from this one restaurant down there. It's a great restaurant and bar the over looks a harbor. The whole dining room is surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. It's so beautiful especially if you're having dinner while watching the sun set. I can't wait! Cape May is my peaceful place. I'm a totally different person when I'm there. If I remember my camera, maybe I'll take some pictures for you. :P

Right now I can't wait for fall! Dave is really getting into his new home beer brewing hobby and it's turning into something we do together. The first batch didn't turn out so well. It's very bitter and seems to be getting worse every time we try it. I think he's going to dump it. The last 2 have been really good, but they aren't they type of beer that I like. However, in a couple months we will be getting some apple cider from the local orchard and making a hard cider. YUM!! I <3 cider. Strongbow is my favorite. Hopefully, ours will turn out just as good. We have a test batch made with natural style apple juice (no preservatives) in the secondary fermenter. We tried it and it's quite dry. We haven't decided if we're going to kill the yeast and sweeten it or leave the yeast alive and carbonate it. I'm sure it'll taste better cold and after it's had some more time to mellow out.

In 2 1/2 weeks, I'll be on vacation! I'm really looking forward to it. Dave and I are doing an 11 day Euro Trip with friends. So, be prepared. After I get back, I will be posting alot of pictures. I plan on doing alot of writing while I'm away so I can blog about it and maybe make a scrap book. I can't wait to share my vacation with you!
