Writer's Block!

I've been MIA for the last week or so. I had a serious case of writer's block. However, tonight I found something that I wanted to share. YAY!!

Dave and I bought a house about 3.5 years ago. It's a brand new blank slate... and have done very little to decorate. I just could not decide how I wanted our open concept main floor to look like. Well tonight... While watching property virgins.... I found it! Please excuse the poor quality picture. I took it with my phone with the DVR on pause.... just ignore the pink butterfly crap on the wall... That is soooo not me.

I love blues and grays.  I already have dark gray sofas that would work in here just the way they are... if the cats hadn't scratched the nubby sofa almost all to heck. I wonder how much it would cost to reupholster them...

I kinda want to go out right now and get started!! LOL!

I had quite the geeky Sunday yesterday.... Which was alot of fun... If I'm brave enough, maybe I'll share it with you later this week.

I'm hoping to get caught up on some of your blogs this week. The depression comes and goes now... and when it comes... I'm useless. So I haven't been reading like I'd like. However, I can already feel spring is coming! Soon I'll be my good old happy self.

Still a Little Down

I'm still feeling a little down, but I'm working on it. I am making an effort to notice that the mornings are slowly getting brighter and that the sun is still out when I leave work. In the last few months, I've noticed that my mood is highly influenced by the weather. It's not too bad most of the time, but the dark cold of winter makes me want to hibernate (which I feel is very natural).

I've figured out my goals for 2012. Most of the changes I'll be making will only be noticed by me. There are the normal health and fitness goals and working on my relationship with Dave. However, 2012 be a year of inner reflection for me. My plan is to meditate and journal more frequently so I can find my true self and maybe have some revelations about my spirituality.

Speaking of spirituality... In the last year and a half or so, I have completely stripped away what I've been taught about spirituality and religion. I am now down to the bare bones. Recently, I discovered the my beliefs mostly align with pantheism (well... at the moment they do). Since most people don't know what pantheism is, here is a very basic description. Most of it I agree with and the rest I haven't figured out yet (like the parts about death and the afterlife).

"The basic concepts comprise:
  • Reverence for Nature and the wider Universe.
  • Active respect and care for the rights of all humans and other living beings.
  • Celebration or our lives in our bodies on this beautiful earth as a joy and a privilege.
  • Strong naturalism, without belief in supernatural realms, afterlives, beings or forces.
  • Respect for reason, evidence and the scientific method as our best ways of understanding nature and the Universe.
  • Promotion of religious tolerance, freedom of religion and complete separation of state and religion."
http://www.pantheism.net/manifest.htm (there is also a more detailed statement of principles if you want to know more)

Since work is crazy busy and leaves me drained at the end of the day, most of my blogging will now take place on the weekends. I'm hoping to post atleast every Saturday.

I'm alive

But only barely... This damn seasonal depression came on early this year. All I want to do is sleep and I got a solid 10 hours last night. :P I'm a weepy mess and the only thing that got my spirits up was being able to open some windows in my house.

I seem to have lost a grasp on alot of things in my life. I'm in a lost phase. I'm trying to work on defining my priorities and goals for 2012 and having a hard time of it. I honestly don't know what the heck I want out of my life.

So... I a little update. Many of you might remember that my BIL was living with us while he was doing his co-op nearby. Well.... he has moved back in with his parents apparently because he thinks it would be easier. Not sure what he meant by that statement. Easier for him? Because he won't wake up to cleaning supplies next to the bathroom door. Easier because he won't have to deal with my bitchy self... and he hadn't seen me at full blown bitch yet. I did learn something from his stay here. I HATE long term house guests. It felt like it wasn't my house anymore. I felt like Dave and I couldn't just be us. Cuddling on the couch is a little awkward with your BIL in the room. The constant smacking of my butt that my husband does seemed inappropriate. I also can't stand it when I leave a room I just cleaned only to come back to it to find trash there instead of in the trash can. Ok.. I admit that sometimes I leave trash on the table, but since I'm the one doing the cleaning I think I'm allowed to. Anyway... he's gone. At first I felt a little bad thinking maybe it was something I said or did. Now I'm just happy to have my house back and happy to be able to just relax (which is very hard to do when someone else is living with you)

I am determined to get back into blogging again. I miss reading my favorites. Now, I just have to make time for it during the week.

I have been taking alot of pictures since I got my new camera.. mostly of my cats because there isn't much else to take pictures of in the middle of a snowless winter. All things considered I think I'm getting great shots of animals that don't stay still for very long. Here are a few and some nice pictures I got on Christmas.

My youngest nephew

The princess

My mommy with 3 of her 4 grandchildren

Yes I gave him that awesome gift. :P

Ying Yang Kitties

Gizmo

Quincy

Gizmo took over my reading nook!

I get more shots of this one... If Quincy isn't sleepy, he's usually not close enough for a good picture.
